Volunteering as a Pathway to Employment:
Does Volunteering Increase Odds of Finding a Job for the Out of Work?
What is South Jersey Works (SJWorks)?
The South Jersey Works Program (SJWorks) is a program to assist the current population in South Jersey that is either unemployed or those who are employed, but want to learn new skills to find a better suited job. The SJWorks program will also allow them to give back to their community at the same time, providing them with unlimited networking opportunities, which can lead to an increased likelihood of finding employment. These increases could make individuals more marketable to, or productive for employers and increase their odds of finding work. Alternatively, some workers may see volunteering as a possible entry route into an organization where they would like to work.
Who is eligible to participant in SJWorks?
The SJWorks Program serves South Jersey residents to develop and sustain their own pathway to new or enhanced employment opportunities. There is no other agency in South Jersey’s 7 county region that is offering this program. If you are unemployed and actively seeking work, you could be eligible to participate in this free program.
