Twice a year, VCSJ hosts premier family volunteering events. Our signature service event, Making a Difference Together is a unique opportunity to meet local nonprofits and work on service activities suitable for all ages. This is a great way to introduce little ones to the act of giving back.

National Family Volunteer Day

Every November on the Saturday before Thanksgiving we celebrate Family Volunteer Day. FVD a day of service that celebrates the power of families who work together to support their communities and neighborhoods. Volunteering is a great way for kids and adults to make new friends, develop compassion for their neighbors, and even pick up a new skill or two! For more information and registration for this year's event, click below.

New Jersey Family Day of Service

Every spring in May (weekend before Memorial Day) we celebrate Family Day of Service with our partners at Family Strengthening Network and United Advocacy Group. This year we have expanded our reach and invited our partners in Central and Northern New Jersey to join us! Changing our 6 year initiative to NEW JERSEY FAMILY DAY OF SERVICE.  We are so proud to join forces to grow our impact and celebrate together across New Jersey!

NJFDS celebrates the power of families who work together to support their neighbors and neighborhoods. Thousands of families use the day to teach children valuable real-life lessons about compassion and caring.

Volunteering can also be a great way for kids and adults to develop skills, learn more about their community and make new friends. Whether your passion is the environment, caring for animals, literacy, women and children, or even your very own volunteer idea, your family can be part of this meaningful tradition.
